I am not much of a book reader, my life always seem to busy
and once I get into a good book I don't want to stop and when
I do it seems like I never get back to it for months..Its been
years since I sat and read a paperback book so when I was
asked to review The Magic Warble, I was wondering if I would
even have the time to read it and enjoy it with the busy month
we have had. Once I realized its focus is to young adults I knew
my little book worm would be in heaven when I told her about it.
She has a love for reading that did not come from me, I am so
glad that she does too. She will read for hours and a full book
in no time. She has been above all her classmates since she
was in Kindergarten and always ahead with reading, she loves
a challenge and a good book. She is now 10 1/2 and has gotten
bored with the shelves and shelves of books we have gathered
for her each reading them over and over. She has been reading
alot of books that are above her grade level and is always on the
search for something new. Her love for reading adds to the
creativity in her drawings and story writing and I love to sit and
listen to her tell me about the most current book she completed.
She has read more full chapter books than I probably have my
entire life. No joke! So the book came when we were on the
go alot, traveling to Grandmas and a little more busier than
usual so she took her time to enjoy it and has told me about it
along the way. Here are her thoughts on the book and a little
interview with her on why she recommends The Magic Warble.
I will try not to give away too much because I know you want to
read it and experience the adventure on your own so I will try to
be careful with my questions but give you a sneak peak on this
good read!
Tell me about the character in this book:
A 12 year old girl named Kristina who doesn't seem to be very organized. She has a pet rat
named Raymond thats always with her. She doesn't really like school because the kids tease
her and she doesn't feel like she fits in any place. She seems to get into alot of trouble too.
She goes from lazy to standing up for herself and being brave.
What can you tell me about the book without giving away the whole story?
Kristina gets a special gift from her teacher Mrs. Hensley and turns her Christmas vacation
into a magical adventure. Everyone who comes in contact with the gift follows her footsteps
in the adventure as well. She is transported to Bernovem, where she meets talking
animals, gnomes and magical fairies and an evil queen. This special gift helps her new
friends live happy and not be controlled by the evil queen. But she has to take it to a
special place and not let the evil queen and her son destroy it and not get caught by the
Zelbocks. She also meets Prince Werrien who helps her along the way. Most of the journey
is really exciting and interesting. With some of the clues you can figure a few things out. She
learns to know who she can trust after a good friend turns on her. The people who touch
the gift and are transported after her are the babysitter who is always picking on her and
two bullies from school. The true Queen is locked up in a castle and they are ready for
the dark and gloomy place to be back to happy and bring back the fairy blossoms.
What do you think about having her good friends turns on her?
Its sad to know she couldn't trust anybody when two people she trusted turned on her
and started working with the evil Queen to lead her the wrong way. It makes her
always nervous and I would never want to have friends like that.
Does it make you think about your friends and worry about trusting them?
No, I don't think my friends would ever be that way. But if it did happen I learned
from her you can still make new friends and meet new people and how you can
know you can trust them by different experiences.
Why would you recommend or not recommend this book?
Yes, I would recommend it, some of the names were hard to pronounce but I
really like the book and want to read her other one. There are a few violent
parts when they were trying to keep themselves safe from the Zelbocks but not too
bad, no bad details and not scary. I like the type of book it is, if you like adventure its
perfect for you. Adventure mixed with magical and things you would not real
or seen here. I like to read this book anytime. Some if I read before bed they might
be a bit scary but not this one. I felt like I was a part of the story and could picture
everything in my mind. I liked the few pictures in each chapter to help me imagine
them more.
When I get it read I will be sure to let you know my thoughts
as well! Sounds exciting! The author seems amazing and was
so sweet to write a personalized message and sign inside her book.
When my daughter opened it she was so excited and glowing with
smiles. I love how a new book just makes her day..and even more
when she finds one she loves you can feel the excitement
flow from her when she tells you about it!
